Course description

 This course covers the removal of single limb/parts of the tree canopy through to the complete removal of trees without the use of rigging equipment. It includes removing sections from the crown using free-fall or hand thrown techniques. Successful candidates will achieve the necessary certification to use a chainsaw whilst in a rope and harness in a tree.  The course is broken down into two days training, concluding on the third day with an NPTC assessment. Candidates must already hold their CS30 Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting, CS31 Felling over 380mm and Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue certifications to attend this course.

Who is the course for?

This course is for candidates who have already gained experience in using chainsaw on the ground and tree climbing systems. learning how to operate a chainsaw from a rope and harness is essential in becoming a tree surgeon. Most tree surgery jobs require aerial cutting, developing the qualifications and skills required for this will help you progress in your career.

Equipment requirements

Please ensure all climbing equipment is EN compliant and has appropriate LOLER certificates and PPE is in good condition. Equipment is available for hire if candidates do not yet have their own. Please contact the office for cost.
